After the apparition of a motor deficiency, driving as a reinsertion asset often becomes an issue. Hence it is necessary to have the possibility to evaluate the physical aptitudes of patients who want to pass (or keep) their driving license.

The clinical exam is, of course, essential. It takes into account the remaining capacities and outlines the necessary arrangements.

However, it is possible that other measures must be taken.

That's why we developed two kind of actions.

Attention and vigilance evaluation system

The evaluation is made by a psychologist who gives a clinical opinion. The therapist then receive the patient in consultation.

Motor possibilities and “reflexes” evaluation.

The evaluation is made by an occupational therapist who gives a clinical opinion. The therapist then interviews the patient and determines the arrangements that became necessary with the apparition of the deficiency and according to the results. HE CAN ALSO TURN TO COMPLEMENTARY EXAMINATIONS

Other possibilities

We work with driving schools instructors who are used to teaching disabled people.

For this purpose, we have an adapted vehicle meeting the needs of most of the pathologies we treat in the center.

Finally, we recently bought a driving simulator allowing patients to be confronted to real-like driving situations. We also have a mock car to train people in a wheelchair to get in and out of a vehicle.
